D.B. Caulfield – Single Release
After several weeks as our artist in residence, D.B. Caulfield presents the new music he has been developing during his time at Meneer de Wit. On 4 September at 20:00, join us for an evening celebrating the release of his new single, alongside live performances from:
D.B. Caulfield
With his solo project D.B. Caulfield, Teun Putker (also known from Queen’s Pleasure/RubinCarter) makes exactly what he wants to make. Although his songs seem to describe the lives of fictional characters, they serve as a way of expressing his own emotional landscape. Themes such as self-destruction, addiction, and a craving for recognition are transformed into honest stories, often inspired by existential novels and an eclectic nightlife.
Musically, D.B. Caulfield’s sound can be described as indie rock with drum machines or electropop with guitars, with productions characterized by experimentation and unconventional mixing techniques. The single “Birds Die Out Of Sight” will be released on September 4, the first track from his debut album Litost, which will be released later this year.
Former Resident
Former Resident is technically a four-piece alternative rock band. However, tonight only Teun (vocals) and Warner (guitar) will take the stage, performing acoustic versions of their songs. Their music inhabits the grey area between loneliness and connection, between searching and carrying on.
Olaf Putker
Songwriter Olaf Putker channels his restless, overthinking and romantic thoughts into buzzing folk rock and crackling indie songs. After six years of playing with Olaf & the Scenic Sound, it is now time to continue the search for the essence on his own. For fans of Elliott Smith, Wilco, and MJ Lenderman.
